Are trends no longer a trend?

Post Trend Universe?

This article from the New York Times about the "post trend universe" made me think about custom homes.  Trends are prevalent in fashion, so where do they fit into the world of custom homes?  Just as in fashion, custom home buyers are influenced by trends.  Things come and go.  Tastes change and the pendulum swings.  Yet, classics endure.  Therefore, we believe the best way to approach custom home design is to wisely marry the two in a way that ensures the best of both.

Can you be classic and trendy?

The beauty of a custom home is that our clients can differentiate themselves and create something special.  Something unique for their own lifestyle.  The fun of a trend is that you feel fresh and current - and there is definitely an energy to that feeling of being spot on.  Keep in mind, however, that some of today's trends may not be your favorite thing tomorrow - we suggest incorporating the color of the moment for example, in your paint selections as opposed to your tile selections.  Paint is easy to change.  Tile - less so.

Custom means custom - there are no hard and set rules!

The article suggests that we are more tolerant now in the world of fashion, so that people can pick and choose their own unique style without focus on what is the style-of-the-moment.  In custom homes, we have always had that view.  Custom means custom.  So when you embark on your custom project, feel free to embrace your own look that will delight you in your own space.  At L. Cramer Builders + Remodelers - our style is always your style.
